Patient Eligibility
To be able to access services under the ExPO Project, patients will be required to satisfy several eligibility criteria:
- Have received a diagnosis of prostate cancer.
- Are currently undergoing androgen deprivation therapy.
- Have not previously undergone ADT (de novo ADT patients)
- Are not currently seeing an AEP.
Exercise Program
Each patient enrolled in the ExPO Project will receive an individualised exercise program from an AEP. The specific make up of these exercise programs will be tailored to suit the needs, clinical status, capabilities and goals of each patient. While the focus of the exercise prescription should be on resistance exercises, the specific exercise prescription will be up to the clinical judgment of the AEP. The program should be modified as appropriate throughout the duration of the Program. If the patient misses out on sessions in the 6-week period due to unavailability or illness, they can complete catch up session in the following weeks (they can complete 12 full sessions in total).
However, the program is structured to deliver the evidence-based volume of 2 sessions per week. Patients are not able to modify the Program to 1 session per week over 12-weeks.
Patient Consent
All registered patients are required to sign the expo program consent form to participate in the program. All data collected as part of this project will be used to establish a database, managed by ESSA SA, stored securely on the Organisation’s IT infrastructure, for a period of no less than 5 years.
Data submitted to the Program, which may include the outcome measures participant quotes, may also be published in scientific journals and may be presented at research or community forums. This will help other researchers to learn from our findings.
Of importance, no identifying information will ever be published about each patient and participation in this project is completely voluntary. The patient can withdraw from the project at any time. In the event of a patient withdrawal, the AEP cannot claim for the incomplete sessions and all data submitted unto withdrawal will be kept by the Program.
